We are developing chemical tools to address fundamental problems in biology and human health. Click on the links below to learn more about our research program and take a look at our publications. If you are interested in applying some of our methodologies in your research, feel free to request any materials.
Synthetic Chemistry
Synthetic chemistry is the enabling technology for all projects in the lab. We are developing new synthetic methodologies and are synthesizing molecules with new architecture and new function.
medicinal chemistry
The discovery of new molecules that inhibit or activate specific biological pathways is a major research topic in the lab. Our microRNA inhibitors have implications in cancer and viral infections.
Synthetic Biology
We are genetically re-wiring cellular circuitry in order to give proteins and organisms new functions. Our main approach is  the expansion of the genetic code with unnatural amino acids.
Optochemical biology
Light enables the regulation of biological processes with high spatial and temporal resolution, and we are engineering light-responsive nucleic acids and proteins for optobiological studies.
